Why Choose Londolozi for Your Honeymoon:

Romance the Original Way
Choosing your Honeymoon destination is probably one of the biggest decisions a young couple (or groom to be) faces. A trip such as this – really sets the platform for the first official experience as husband and wife, you really can’t afford to get it wrong.

So why Africa?
There is something about Africa that becomes a touchstone in the journey of life. It is timeless – unchanging yet ever-transformative – meeting you exactly where you are in any chapter of your story. This is why it holds such magic for a honeymoon, or as we like to think of it, the first chapter of a shared life. Here, amidst the wild beauty and endless horizons, love takes root and begins to grow in the most extraordinary way.
Yes, it’s the animals and the Big 5, but at Londolozi we understand that there are multiple layers that truly create a magical Honeymoon, one that leaves you forever changed. In our years of looking after people we have noticed the small things. It’s these small things only a family run business notices over generations of hosting people, that make a honeymoon in Africa like no other. It’s the way golden light filters through the Leadwood Forest at dawn, or how the night sky reveals a universe of stars invisible to city eyes. Maybe it’s the profound silence that settles between heartbeats while watching a leopard, broken only by the distant call of a fish eagle or the gentle rumble of elephants at the Sand River. Here at Londolozi, nestled within the 7.5 million acres of the Kruger National Park, we’ve witnessed countless love stories unfold beneath our jackalberry trees. Couples keep returning to visit us because the original Londolozi experience naturally creates the canvas for perfect romance to flourish in its most authentic form.

What transforms any stay into a true romantic escape isn’t simply a special menu or a scattering of rose petals. It is the way your story is listened to, understood, and woven into the experience itself. At Londolozi, every moment is thoughtfully crafted around who you are as a couple, your unique rhythms, your quiet preferences and the things that make you feel most alive.
It’s in the game drive that linger a little longer because you love the way the light falls at dusk. It’s in the private dinner set in a place that speaks to your sense of adventure, or the morning walk that mirrors your shared curiosity for the wild. These are not just moments; they are yours, tailored and shaped by profound hospitality into a honeymoon that could belong to no one else but the two of you. Here, the extraordinary isn’t predefined – it’s discovered, with you, and because of you.

We don’t believe in packaging romance because true connection can’t be scripted or scheduled, it emerges naturally when couples are given space to rediscover each other away from the world’s constant hum. The beauty of the original Londolozi experience is its flexibility to embrace whatever feels right for you as a couple, whether that’s tracking leopards through the bush or simply floating in your private pool, watching clouds drift across an endless sky.

Our Favourite Honeymoon Camps
Our Private Granite Suites, perched along the Sand River, create natural sanctuaries where privacy and wilderness merge. Outdoor baths await you beneath star-scattered skies and private pools that reflect ancient granite boulders, allowing for the perfect midday dip. Take advantage of your private deck or use the main deck to watch the daily stories of the African bush unfold while lost in quiet conversation or comfortable silence.

For couples seeking a different kind of intimacy with nature, Tree Camp offers an elevated perspective on romance – literally. Suspended in the canopy of a 500-year-old ebony tree, this camp creates the sensation of living within the wilderness rather than simply observing it. Here, you’ll wake to the sounds of the river flowing directly beneath your elevated suite, share morning coffee while watching elephants drink from your private deck, and fall asleep to the ancient conversations between trees that have witnessed countless love stories unfold. Conversations flow differently when you’re cradled in the arms of a tree that has stood sentinel over the African bush for centuries.

What To Do In Between Game Drives?
The Londolozi Honeymoon experience emerges naturally from having the freedom to follow your instincts and desires. While many love to enjoy the views from their suites or drink Gin and Tonics next to their private plunge pool, for some, diving deeper into the Londolozi experience elevates the Honeymoon adventure. Perhaps you’ll book treatments together at our Healing House, where the River Room’s body activation becomes a shared adventure in wellness. Picture yourselves moving between the infrared Himalayan salt cabin, the shock of the cold plunge pool, and the gentle cascade of the rain shower – each transition bringing laughter, gasps of surprise, and the unique bonding that comes from sharing new experiences together. Or maybe you’ll book a relaxing treatment, like the Four Hands Infinity Experience, where two therapists work simultaneously, creating a synchronised rhythm?

Couples can join the daily village walk and discover the Futuristic African Village, behind-the-scenes and the heartbeat of Londolozi, where traditional wisdom meets innovative sustainability. Back at camp, you might spend an afternoon in our Photographic Studio editing your safari memories together, or book a session with a Lightroom guide to create professional keepsakes of your honeymoon adventure. Or, for those seeking movement – the daily yoga classes in our treetop sanctuary, allow for midday stretches to become shared moments of mindfulness suspended in the canopy of ancient trees.
The Londolozi Experience

Memories That Last Lifetimes
Many couples who celebrate their love at Londolozi return years later to mark anniversaries, often bringing children and grandchildren to share the magic they discovered together. The wilderness has a way of marking time differently – not in minutes and hours, but in moments of wonder that expand to fill whatever space you give them.
Your time here becomes part of your shared vocabulary as a couple. You’ll find yourselves, years later, saying “Remember that morning when the leopard crossed right in front of us?” or “That sunset when we just sat in perfect silence…” These become the touchstones of your relationship, proof of a time when the world slowed down enough for you to really see each other.

The question every couple asks: “How long do we need to fall completely under Africa’s spell?” .
In our experience of welcoming couples for nearly a century, we’ve discovered that four to six nights creates the perfect rhythm for romance to flourish. Here’s why this feels just right for couples:
You’ll recover from the journey together. Traveling halfway around the world is exhilarating but exhausting. Your first day will rush by in a beautiful blur of arrival excitement, welcome drinks, and that magical first game drive. By day two, you’ll wake up refreshed and ready to truly be present with each other.
You’ll sync with nature’s rhythm as a couple. Those early morning wake-up calls for dawn game drives might feel challenging at first, but there’s something deeply bonding about sharing coffee before sunrise, watching the world wake up together. By your third day, you’ll find yourselves naturally attuned to the bush’s ancient rhythms.
You’ll have time for both adventure and intimacy. The Big Five are certainly on your list, but the small wonders – the way light filters through leaves, the sound of elephants rumbling in the distance while you’re having breakfast on your deck – these moments need space to breathe. Four to six nights gives you time for both the exhilarating discoveries and the quiet, connecting moments that honeymoons are really about.
You’ll build relationships that last. Some of our most cherished feedback comes from couples who return years later, not just for the wildlife, but to reconnect with the Londolozi family members who became part of their love story. Your ranger and tracker team, the staff who surprise you with champagne at sunset – these relationships need time to develop and become part of your shared memories.
You can experience everything without rushing. Between game drives, you might want to float in your private pool, enjoy treatments together at the Healing House, explore our village, or simply disappear into your suite for hours of uninterrupted togetherness. Six nights means you never have to choose between adventure and rest – you can have both.
Packing for your first safari together can feel overwhelming, but remember – safari is about comfort and connection. You probably already own most of what you need, and our complimentary daily laundry service means you can pack light and focus on each other.
The Golden Rule for Couples: Comfort over style, though you can absolutely achieve both! Whether you’re arriving in summer’s warmth or winter’s golden light, being prepared means less time worrying about what to wear.

Capturing Your Love Story: Photography equipment isn’t essential—you can rent professional gear here if you prefer to travel light. However, if you want to document your honeymoon adventures, bring your camera, extra batteries, and chargers.
Important Luggage Note: Flights into Londolozi have a 20kg (44lb) weight limit per person in soft-sided bags. This includes carry-on items, so pack strategically and focus on the essentials that will make your romantic getaway comfortable and memorable.
The beauty of honeymoon time at Londolozi is that the space between scheduled adventures often holds the most intimate magic. While morning and afternoon game drives bookend your days, the hours in between are when your love story really unfolds.
Wellness and Connection Together:
- Daily yoga classes in our treetop sanctuary
- Healing House treatments designed for couples, including our signature Body Activation experience where you’ll laugh, challenge each other, and emerge feeling renewed
Discovering Londolozi’s Heart:
- Village walks that reveal the community whose warmth makes your romantic stay possible – you’ll often find these visits deeply moving as a couple
- Photographic Studio sessions where you can edit and print your favorite moments together, creating tangible memories of your time
- Londolozi Living Boutique browsing for meaningful keepsakes that will remind you of this special chapter
Creating Your Own Rhythm: The most romantic activity might be doing absolutely nothing together – long conversations on your private deck, afternoon naps, champagne tastings while elephants drink from the river below. We’ve learned that couples need unscheduled time to simply be together without the world’s demands.
Adventure When You Want It:
- Fitness activities in the gym for active couples who want to maintain their energy
- Reading corners with carefully curated books about Africa and conservation
The secret is that there’s no pressure to fill every moment. Some of our couples’ most treasured memories happen during the quiet hours: sharing stories over room service lunch, taking photographs of each other in golden afternoon light, or simply holding hands while listening to the bush’s ancient conversations.
Staying Connected (Or Not): Every suite has WiFi, but cell phone reception is unreliable – which many couples find to be a blessing. This is your chance to truly disconnect from the world and reconnect with each other. If you need to check in with family, the WiFi will handle video calls, but we encourage you to embrace the digital detox together.
Power and Practical Matters: You’ll need South African power adapters (Type C – Europlug). We provide one per room, but bring extras for your devices. .
Health and Comfort:
- Dietary requirements: Please let us know about any allergies or dietary restrictions when booking. Our chefs love creating special meals for celebrating couples.
- Malaria precautions: We’re in a low-risk area, but consult your travel doctor about what feels right for you as a couple.
- Weather awareness: Layers are your friend in any season. Check our seasonal guide above for specific recommendations.
The Gift of Generosity: Gratuities are handled discretely through your Camp Manager at checkout. There’s a recommended structure for recognizing the team members who make your romantic escape special – from your ranger and tracker to the housekeeping staff who scatter rose petals in your bath.
What Matters Most: Ultimately, all these practical details fade into the background once you’re here. What you’ll remember is the way the light looked when your ranger found you the perfect spot for sundowners, how it felt to hold hands during that incredible leopard sighting, and the conversations you had under more stars than you knew existed.
Come as you are, with open hearts and a sense of adventure. We’ll take care of everything else, just as we have for couples celebrating love for nearly 100 years. Your job is simply to be present with each other and let Africa work her magic on your love story.
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ My wife and I spent 3 nights at Londolozi Tree Camp as the second stop of our 3 stop honeymoon in South Africa/Mozambique, and from our arrival to our send off, our experience was entirely first class. The service from the front of house, the restaurant staff, and our guide and tracker were genuine, friendly, anticipatory, and professional, with staff members telling us that when asked “what is your job at Londolozi?” they want the answer to be “to make the guests happy.” Being a Relais & Chateaux property, the food was unbelievable for every meal, and given that it was our honeymoon, on our last full day they prepared a surprise for us – our guide drove us 5 minutes away from the lodge to a treehouse overlooking the river with a picnic setup including champagne and a basket full of dishes for lunch. The game viewing was magical with an abundance of wildlife, and during our 3 night stay we saw lion, leopard, wild dog, cheetah, elephant, and many other species, with highlights including 2 leopards mating and wild dogs organizing themselves for an impala hunt. Upon completion of our 3 night stay, we both looked at each other and immediately thought, how quickly can we return – Londolozi really is a magical property and we had high hopes for our honeymoon with this being the most anticipated property we selected to stay at and they delivered.
Tree Camp

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ We just left Londolozi where we had not returned since our Honeymoon 21 years ago, and we knew that Londolozi was a special place as this is where our passion for the Bush had all started. Our (too short) 2-nights stay at Granite Camp was simply out of this world – INCREDIBLE and simply the best we have ever experienced in our 30+ bush experiences over the years. The suites were unbelievable with stunningly beautiful, impeccable understated luxury and majestic views of the Sand River. We had a phenomenal ranger and tracker – the best we ever had – with whom we had fantastic drives and great fun together, feeling we left friends behind. Our camp manager for Granite, could not do enough to delight and surprise us with amazing experiences including bush breakfast and dinner under the stars for Valentine’s Day, with absolutely delicious food that was healthy, stylish and contemporary. What we would like to commend you most for is the value and spirit of your team – they are driven, passionate about their job, generous and sociable, showing much respect and camaraderie with each other and their guests, overall classy in a chic casual way. Our only regret is that we pitched our stay way too short, but we are definitely back soon and will make it a ritual to come and visit Londolozi regularly – as I said to myself as we were leaving: Don’t cry because it’s over, smile because it happened.
Private Granite Suites

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐I have to admit that I did not know too much about Londolozi before my partner surprised me with a long weekend there, but I was amazed by the impact that the Varty family have had on the area and our beautiful country as a whole. From the moment we arrived at the camp, we were greeted by a wall of smiling, waving, happy people who all introduced themselves and helped get us settled, with our first contact being our camp manager who was thorough and welcoming while we started the journey of deliciousness which did not stop until we consumed the last morsel of food on our last day. We were so overwhelmed with the beauty of the room, with no luxury left out – the bathroom was perfectly laid out with all the amenities you could ask for, including a shower with a 180-degree view and an outdoor shower which we used after a quick dip in the plunge pool on a hot afternoon. Our guiding team were terrific, with their detailed knowledge of the bush and unrestrained excitement at every prominent siting being infectious. On our last evening, the team arranged an extended drinks evening in the bush for us, with a spread of snacks and lanterns, and unfortunately our time there had to come to an end with the team getting our car ready and a hug from each of the group, as we left feeling like we had to say goodbye to family – I do not doubt that we will be back.
Varty Camp

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ The most perfect place on the planet
We had never been to South Africa or on safari before so this seemed like the perfect experience for our honeymoon. After four days at Londolozi we realized no other experience will ever compare… The thing about Londolozi is that it pulls on your heart strings. I cried at the site of the amazing wildlife, beautiful landscape, and the little family we built there.
