Here at Londolozi we have an affinity for Mozambique because we’re practically next door neighbours. One of our favourite spots is the Bazaruto Archipelago which is renowned for its beautiful beaches, azure waters and secluded islands. Bazaruto, Benguerra, Magaruque, Banque, Santa Carolina (also known as Paradise Island) and Shell make up the Islands that constitute the Bazaruto Archipelago.
The Archipelago is situated off the coast of Vilanculos, so most visitors pass through this colourful seaside town. There are direct flights to Vilanculos from South Africa and a number of hotels and guesthouses in the town itself. It’s worth staying a night in Vilanculos but the islands are the real catch as they offer you a private piece of paradise.
Bazaruto and Benguerra are the two largest islands and the most developed. Think sandy white beaches and spectacular coral reefs. The Archipelago has been a national park since 1973, so the marine reserve is well-protected and offers great snorkelling and scuba diving.
We’ve featured a limited selection of destinations in our Tours, but we can help you plan a holiday to any southern or eastern African destination, tailored to your budget, style and needs.
